ALFREDO ZAMARRA

For over twenty years, he served as principal violist of the Teatro La Fenice Orchestra in Venice, where he often performed as a soloist – including under Jeffrey Tate in Strauss’s Don Quixote, receiving outstanding reviews.

He regularly collaborates as principal viola with the orchestra of Teatro alla Scala in Milan.

As a soloist, he has performed with numerous distinguished orchestras, such as the South Czech Philharmonic, the Orchestra of La Fenice Venice, the Arena di Verona Orchestra, Teatro Regio di Parma, the Chamber Orchestra of Padua and Veneto, and Orchestra dei Pomeriggi Musicali.

Zamarra is also highly active in chamber music, having played with leading ensembles and musicians including Quartetto di Cremona, Beatrice Rana, Francesca Dego, Sonig Tchakerian, Uto Ughi, Salvatore Accardo, Rocco Filippini, Mario Brunello, and Giovanni Sollima.

He is frequently invited to chamber music festivals in Italy, Germany, the UK, and the USA, performing with artists such as the Schumann Quartett, Altenberg Trio, Shlomo Mintz, Marc Bouchkov, Alena Baeva, Ani Kavafian, Jan Talich, Carter Brey, Cynthia Phelps, Boris Garlitsky, and Ilya Grubert.
