János Fehérvári

Violist János Fehérvári studied at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music from 1976 to 1982. From 1982 to 2000, he served as Principal Viola with the Budapest String Soloists (Budapest Strings). He was subsequently a member of the renowned Kodály String Quartet from 2000 to 2019. Since 2004, he has held the position of Principal Viola with the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra.

With his ensembles, János Fehérvári has performed extensively throughout Europe as well as in China, Taiwan, Macau, Hong Kong, Japan, the United States, Canada, Mexico, Lebanon, and Saudi Arabia. As a member of the Kodály String Quartet, he participated in the complete recordings of the string quartets by Joseph Haydn and Franz Schubert (2000–2004), as well as in the recording of Beethoven’s string trios, all released by NAXOS. In addition, he recorded Mozart’s string quintets as second violist with the Eder Quartet for NAXOS. A notable artistic milestone is the world premiere recording of the six sonatas for two violas by Jean-Marie Leclair, released by Hungaroton.

Der Bratschist János Fehérvári studierte von 1976 bis 1982 an der Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt. Von 1982 bis 2000 war er als Principal Viola bei den Budapester Streichersolisten (Budapest Strings) tätig. Anschließend wirkte er von 2000 bis 2019 als Mitglied des renommierten Kodály Streichquartetts. Seit 2004 ist er Principal Viola im Ungarischen Radio-Sinfonieorchester.

Mit seinen Ensembles konzertierte János Fehérvári in ganz Europa sowie in China, Taiwan, Macao, Hongkong, Japan, den USA, Kanada, Mexiko, dem Libanon und Saudi-Arabien. Als Mitglied des Kodály Streichquartetts war er an den Gesamteinspielungen der Streichquartette von Joseph Haydn und Franz Schubert (2000–2004) beteiligt sowie an der Einspielung der Beethoven-Streichtrios, die sämtlich bei NAXOS erschienen sind. Darüber hinaus wirkte er als zweite Bratsche bei der Aufnahme der Mozart-Streichquintette mit dem Eder-Quartett für NAXOS mit. Eine besondere künstlerische Referenz stellt die Weltersteinspielung der sechs Sonaten für zwei Bratschen von Jean-Marie Leclair dar, die bei Hungaroton veröffentlicht wurde.
