KRISZTINA FEJES

Krisztina Fejes is a Hungarian pianist known for her deeply expressive playing, refined technique, and exceptional sensitivity to musical structure. Her interpretations have been praised for their individuality and emotional clarity. Critics have described her performances as “truly extraordinary – a master of her instrument” (Spain, 2021) and noted that “her radiant musicality evokes the memory of Annie Fischer” (Hungary, 2023).

She began playing the piano at the age of five in Szolnok, Hungary. A child prodigy, she won her first national competition at ten and was soon admitted to the prestigious Béla Bartók Conservatory in Budapest. She continued her studies at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music with Balázs Szokolay and Attila Némethy, where she developed a deep connection to the Liszt tradition. Her artistic training was further shaped by masterclasses with Dimitri Bashkirov, Paul Badura-Skoda, and Mikhail Voskresensky.

Krisztina Fejes has received numerous national and international awards, including second prize at the Carl Filtsch International Piano Competition (Romania) and at the Bartók Béla Piano Competition (Hungary), where she was also awarded the special prize for best Bartók interpretation.

Her international career has taken her across Europe, Asia, and Latin America. She has toured as a soloist and led masterclasses in Germany, Austria, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, France, Colombia, Mexico, Finland, and China. In 2018, she represented Europe as a soloist with the National Symphony Orchestra at the Teatro Colón de Bogotá for Europe Day. She has taught at leading institutions such as the Universidad de Los Andes in Colombia and the University of Toluca in Mexico.

Her repertoire spans from Baroque to contemporary music. As a prominent figure in Hungary’s contemporary music scene, she has premiered numerous works and recorded live performances for Hungarian Radio. She has been awarded the Artisjus Prize twice (2012, 2020), received the Annie Fischer Scholarship in 2010, and was granted the Hungarian Academy of Arts Scholarship for 2017–2018.

In 2021, Halidon Music released her live recording of Beethoven’s Piano Concerto in G major, recorded at the Auditorio de Zaragoza. In 2025, the label Hungaroton published Miklós Rózsa – Complete Piano Works, an album dedicated to reviving the neglected piano repertoire of the composer, and part of her artistic mission to bring Rózsa’s concert music the recognition it deserves.

Today, Krisztina Fejes works as a freelance concert pianist and is regularly invited to perform and teach masterclasses around the world. In 2020, she founded the Fejes Művészeti Akadémia Egyesület (Fejes Arts Academy Association), through which she supports and mentors the next generation of young Hungarian musicians.

Im Alter von fünf Jahren begann sie in Szolnok, Ungarn, Klavier zu spielen. Als Wunderkind gewann sie mit zehn Jahren ihren ersten nationalen Wettbewerb und wurde am renommierten Béla-Bartók-Konservatorium in Budapest aufgenommen. Ihr Studium setzte sie an der Franz-Liszt-Musikakademie bei Balázs Szokolay und Attila Némethy fort, wo sie eine tiefe Verbindung zur Liszt-Tradition entwickelte. Meisterkurse bei Dmitri Bashkirov, Paul Badura-Skoda und Mikhail Voskresensky prägten ihre künstlerische Ausbildung zusätzlich.

Krisztina Fejes wurde mit zahlreichen nationalen und internationalen Preisen ausgezeichnet, darunter der zweite Preis beim Carl Filtsch Internationalen Klavierwettbewerb in Rumänien und beim Bartók Béla Klavierwettbewerb in Ungarn, wo sie außerdem einen Sonderpreis für die beste Bartók-Interpretation erhielt.

Ihre internationale Karriere führte sie durch Europa, Asien und Lateinamerika. Sie gab Solotourneen und leitete Meisterklassen in Deutschland, Österreich, Spanien, der Schweiz, Italien, Frankreich, Kolumbien, Mexiko, Finnland und China. Im Jahr 2018 vertrat sie Europa als Solistin mit dem National Symphony Orchestra im Teatro Colón de Bogotá im Rahmen des Europäischen Tages. Lehrtätigkeiten führten sie an renommierte Institutionen wie die Universidad de Los Andes in Kolumbien und die Universität von Toluca in Mexiko.

Ihr Repertoire reicht von der Barockmusik bis hin zur zeitgenössischen Musik. Als prägende Persönlichkeit der ungarischen Neue-Musik-Szene hat sie zahlreiche Werke uraufgeführt und Live-Aufnahmen für den ungarischen Rundfunk produziert. Sie wurde zweimal mit dem Artisjus-Preis ausgezeichnet (2012, 2020), erhielt 2010 das Annie-Fischer-Stipendium sowie das Stipendium der Ungarischen Akademie der Künste für 2017/2018.

Im Jahr 2021 veröffentlichte Halidon Music eine Live-Aufnahme ihres Beethoven-Konzerts in G-Dur, aufgenommen im Auditorio de Zaragoza. 2025 erschien bei Hungaroton das Album Miklós Rózsa – Complete Piano Works, das dem Ziel gewidmet ist, das Klavierwerk des Komponisten aus dem Schatten der Vernachlässigung zu holen. Dieses Projekt ist Teil ihrer künstlerischen Mission, Rózsas Konzertmusik die verdiente Aufmerksamkeit zurückzugeben.

Heute ist Krisztina Fejes als freischaffende Konzertpianistin tätig und wird regelmäßig weltweit zu Auftritten und Meisterkursen eingeladen. Im Jahr 2020 gründete sie die Fejes Művészeti Akadémia Egyesület (Fejes Kunstakademie-Verein), mit der sie junge ungarische Talente fördert und die nächste Musikergeneration begleitet.
